Jessica Alba is all about the Benjamin’s, going from self-made to self-paid!
When you hear the words “Jessica Alba” and “Billionaire” in the same sentence you’re probably thinking that she’s gained such a hefty revenue from acting, but wait…have you seen her in anything lately?
Fortune does favor the bold, and you’ll never know what you’re capable of if you don’t try.
Golden Globe-nominated actress Jessica Alba knows first hand what it like to sit behind a desk and word your tail off thanks to her new business, The Honest Company. Now she’s well on her way to reaping the benefits, as she reaches that top spot on Forbes “America’s Richest Self-Made Woman” list. Growing up, the 34-year-old mother of two, watched as her family struggled to keep food on the table and their bills paid, but now that’s all officially history!
With a mission to build healthier, safer family, The Honest Company produces a line of organic, eco-friendly baby and household products. The company offers a lot of good from biodegradable diapers for babies to vitamins for both children and adults. After experiencing skin irritation, breakouts, and welts all over her body and digging a little deeper to find out what’s in most of the household products we use today, Jessica felt that it was time for a change.
“I created The Honest Company to help moms and to give all children a better, safer start,” says Jessica.
Having spent most of her childhood in and out of the hospital due to her shaky immune system, being prone to allergies and random outbreaks, she was able to develop this company with just merely having the mindset that she would be the change that most mother are looking for. But I’m sure you’re wondering how do this tie into Jessica becoming a millionaire?
Well, after saving up the money she collected from acting in her 20’s the actress company has seen some pretty good number in their sales gain. In 2012, the company received $10-million dollars in annual revenue. Today, The Honest Company is bringing in an estimate of a whopping $250-million, now almost making it a billion dollar company. 80% of that revenue comes from their monthly subscription service, but hey who cares where its coming from as long as it coming in the right way.
Hmmm, don’t you just love a woman who’s about her business!
With the help of her partner, Christopher Gavigan CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World , The Honest Company has honestly turned Jessica into not only a happier person, worth $200-million, but a more satisfied mom as well!
During the recent Forbes Women’s Summit, Jessica spoke about how hearing “no” helped her to build her company saying:
“To ask for help and to not be afraid of criticism. And when you don’t know what to do, to be okay with not knowing [but learning]. And to not be defined by your mistakes. There are challenges, there are roadblocks, there are mountains. And you just have to figure it out. You just have to be malleable and surround yourself around really smart people. And I didn’t think I was smart for a really long time.”
Do you believe that there’s more that you can do to reach your full potential to become successful?
