Riri is heading back to the big screen!
Rihanna will be starring in her first ever sci-fi film set to hit theaters in summer 2017. The film is called Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and is based on the Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres’ graphic novel and takes place in the 28th century when humanity discovered time travel, according to Rap-Up.
The director of the film, Luc Besson, made the announcement via Instagram: “RIHANNA is in VALERIAN!!!!! ….and she has a big part!! I’m Sooo excited!!!”
Variety reported that she joins a cast that includes Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, and Clive Owen. Filming begins in January of 2016 in France.
Riri had a small role in Battleship back in 2012 and voiced the main character in the animated blockbuster movie Home, for which she also contributed songs to the soundtrack.
