Looks like T.I.‘s acting career is on the rise. The rapper has acted before in feature films like Identity Thief alongside Melissa McCarthy, Takers, Ant-Man, and the upcoming Ride Along 2 starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

T.I. can add A&E’s remake of “Roots to his acting credits. You read that right. Not only is Roots being remade, but somehow T.I. got his foot in the door and his hands onto a script. According to Rap-Up, the film will also star Mekhi Phifer, James Purefoy, Matthew Goode, Lane Garrison, Emayatzy Corinealdi, and G. Hannelius. That’s just the most recent additions, T.I. will also star alongside Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Laurence Fishburne, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke and newcomers Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean Page.

T.I. is reported to play Cyrus, a headstrong slave who fights for his freedom for the Union Army against Confederate forces. The big-budget reboot of the 1977 original will air across multiple A&E networks including History and Lifetime over the course of four-nights as an eight-hour miniseries event.

Amiyah Scott may not have gotten the chance to be apart of the current season of Real Housewives of ATL, but she will get the last laugh. Turns out the social media famous transgender woman has been cast in the Empire spinoff created by Lee Daniels.

According to TMZ, Scott got a call from Daniels in August wanting her to read for his new show. Sources also reported to TMZ that Daniels loved Scott’s look and thought she’d be perfect for the new show as one of the singers in a girl group.

The Empire spinoff is rumored to be a prequel, focusing on a young Cookie Lyon.

That’s all for this week of While You Were Way! See you next week 😉

The time has finally come ladies and gentlemen.

Lifetime released their long awaited Aaliyah biopic,  Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, starring Alexandra Shipp as Aaliyah. The film was produced by talk show host, Wendy Williams.

Prior to the primer, the network released a clip of the actress performing as Aaliyah, and well let’s just say don’t get too excited.  If I’m not convincing enough, check out what this viewer said on twitter:

I guess that it’s safe to say, not using Aaliyah’s music really hindered the film’s chances of actually doing well. Alexandra’s performance didn’t really convince me that she was Aaliyah, but hey that’s just my opinion! Check out the clip below and tell me your thoughts!
