Here’s round two of what you missed over the weekend!
Looks like T.I.‘s acting career is on the rise. The rapper has acted before in feature films like Identity Thief alongside Melissa McCarthy, Takers, Ant-Man, and the upcoming Ride Along 2 starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.
T.I. can add A&E’s remake of “Roots“ to his acting credits. You read that right. Not only is Roots being remade, but somehow T.I. got his foot in the door and his hands onto a script. According to Rap-Up, the film will also star Mekhi Phifer, James Purefoy, Matthew Goode, Lane Garrison, Emayatzy Corinealdi, and G. Hannelius. That’s just the most recent additions, T.I. will also star alongsideForest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Laurence Fishburne, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Erica Tazel, Derek Luke and newcomers Malachi Kirby and Regé-Jean Page.
T.I. is reported to play Cyrus, a headstrong slave who fights for his freedom for the Union Army against Confederate forces. The big-budget reboot of the 1977 original will air across multiple A&E networks including History and Lifetime over the course of four-nights as an eight-hour miniseries event.
Amiyah Scott may not have gotten the chance to be apart of the current season of Real Housewives of ATL, but she will get the last laugh. Turns out the social media famous transgender woman has been cast in the Empire spinoff created by Lee Daniels.
According to TMZ, Scott got a call from Daniels in August wanting her to read for his new show. Sources also reported to TMZ that Daniels loved Scott’s look and thought she’d be perfect for the new show as one of the singers in a girl group.
The Empire spinoff is rumored to be a prequel, focusing on a young Cookie Lyon.
That’s all for this week of While You Were Way! See you next week 😉
Move over Real Housewives, Basketball Wives, WAGS, and Love and Hip Hop! Ace of Diamonds LA (AOD) is coming to TV.
According to TMZ, the notorious strip club is getting its own reality show. The strip club is very popular, entertaining the likes of Amber Rose, Blac Chyna, Rick Ross‘ lady Lira Galore, former Love and Hip Hop Hollywood star Masika, Lil Wayne, former America’s Next Top Model contestant Don Benjamin etc. The list is extremely long and features the elite of the urban world.
TMZ reported that the show is in the early stages and is set to show the life on and off the pole for the America’s top strippers. The show is set to incorporate some of the big name rappers who are regulars at the club. The show will feature the epic Monday night parties (#AODMondays) where the strip club flies in top strippers from around the country.
The producers are still choosing talent for the show (dancers) so it may be some time before the show hits the air. Will you be watching?
There are so many ways to start this story. I’ll go with: once you go black, you never go back … even if the person is deeply addicted to drugs and you’ve dated multiple people publicly over the course of your separation.
Khloé Kardashian has taken back her man. That’s no surprise if you follow her and her family on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She has stayed in contact with Lamar Odom and in the most recent episode of KUWTK she was even flirting with him over the phone. Her relationship post separation is often a subject of confrontation between her and her sister Kim Kardashian-West.
According to TMZ, Khloé has been by Lamar’s side since he was found in a horrible condition at a brothel in Vegas due to drugs. Now that he seems to be making a full recovery, they have called off their divorce. The divorce was originally filed due to Lamar’s drug use, but it seems that this was his lowest point and he has convinced Khloé that he will no longer use drugs.
Is Khloé listening to a broken record? Is Lamar really done with drugs? Maybe we’ll get those answers in a future episode of KUWTK because, in true Kardashian fashion, there were cameras rolling when Khloé and the Kardashian klan went to visit Lamar in his Vegas hospital room.
Kanye performed in front of JLo and the other people on the panel*. Kanye performed for the judges and of course Kim Kardashian-West caught it all on camera. The judges all acted as if they were surprised–and maybe they were–but it all smells of a bad ploy to get a boost in ratings as the show takes its final bow. It wouldn’t be the first time the Kardashians have been called upon to boost ratings for a show *cough cough I Am Cait and DASH Dolls*
Not like you haven’t guessed it, but Yeezus was given the golden ticket which for a normal Idol contestant would mean he made it to Hollywood week.
Another one bites the dust. Bet she didn’t see this one coming. *pause for laughter* That was my one and only blind joke. Anywho, Stevie Wonder and his second wife Kai Millard are officially residents of Splitzville. The two were married in 2001 but separated in 2009 so this divorce wasn’t a surprise.
TMZ broke the story on October 8 and according to the court documents they obtained, the settlement states that Stevie agreed to pay $25,000 a month in child support for the couple’s two kids (ages 10 and 14). Stevie and Kai have joint custody, but according to the settlement he can take the kids on the road when he tours.
Now, if you’re wondering how a blind man signs divorce papers, then this will make your day: they don’t. Instead of placing his John Hancock on the dotted line, Stevie used his thumbprint. Cool, I know.
Straight Outta Compton‘s reign is not over! According to Deadline, SOC was initially set to make $40-$50 million for its opening weekend. The movie instead became the fifth highest opening August film with $60.2 million in ticket sales for the opening weekend.
Don’t think that’s impressive? Well SOC beat out M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs ($60.1M), Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes ($54.8M) and G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra ($54.7M) as far as opening weekends are concerned.
According to Deadline, SOC also beat summer openings for major films like Ant-Man ($57.2M) and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation ($55.5M), which were playing in close to 1,200 more venues.
In the words of the writers at TMZ,”Hollywood’s not done cashing in on the ‘hood.” SOC is being used as sort of a “sequel” for another movie that picks up right where SOC left off at the end of the film. The “sequel” would be about the rise of Snoop Dogg, Tupac and other west coast rappers. Daz of Dogg Pound told TMZ that “the movie will pick up where N.W.A. left off — following the careers of Snoop, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Daz and Warren G.” The film is said to be titled “Dogg Pound 4 Life.”
The film is said to focus on Dogg Pound’s music. Daz told TMZ that “the follow-up also won’t whitewash gang violence and its impact on the rap industry.”
Some news that won’t make SOC fans too happy: the cast from Compton might not be in the “sequel.” The new film will have a different team. It is said that Dr. Dre‘s son Curtis Young is associated with project and that Ice Cube has given his blessing for the film.

Social media is where all of the shade is thrown. The latest shade can be found on Instagram and the shade thrower is Rihanna herself. Rihanna has 24.5 million followers on the social media platform, and earlier today she put NBA player Matt Barnes on front street for making it seem as if they had a romantic relationship–or a relationship of any kind.
Rumors that Riri and Barnes were dating sparked some time ago when the Memphis Grizzlies player made it very clear that he was a fan and member of the Rihanna Navy. Barnes made Riri his #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) on Instagram a few months back. He also flirted with her via Twitter in 2012 while she sat courtside at at Lakers game.
TMZ Sports caught up with Barnes’ ex wife Gloria Govan and she gave the two her stamp of approval … but only if she gets concert tickets! When TMZ asked Barnes what was really going on with him and Riri, and he said “[Rihanna and I are] just past the crush stage.” Rihanna must subscribe to TMZ, because she caught wind of that answer and took to Twitter to squash any link-romantically or otherwise-to Barnes:
Rihanna posted the picture of Barnes, which happens to be a screenshot from the TMZ Sports video, and captioned it with hashtags not only denying any romantic involvement but also throwing major shade his way: “#bishwhere #thedevilisaliar #shesnotthatintoyou #shesnotintoyouatall #shesneverevenmetyou #thisactuallyhurtmyfeelings #defamationofcharacter.” Awkward. Sorry, Matt. Maybe next time?
Barnes allegedly commented on the post and said, “Hahaaa wow.”
BUT, there are some men that RIhanna does claim (sorry Matt) and they are Karim Benzema and Lewis Hamilton.
As recent as a few weeks ago, Riri was romantically linked with Karim but a source told E! News that “Karim is fading out and it looks like Rihanna has only one guy on her mind, and that’s Lewis.” As far as Lewis is concerned, the source added that she is taking it slow and has not put a “label” on them yet.
The two have been caught on various trips together and seem to be getting pretty close. Maybe it’ll make Matt happy that she’s at least with another athlete? #Brotherhood?
Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, stylized as LHHH, returns to VH1 on September 7th. When the show returns, the cast will include fan favorites, new faces, a Love & Hip Hop: NY veteran, and a cast member that is already making headlines. For the first time in LHH history, the show will feature an intimate relationship between two men. One of the men in that relationship (pictured below) is openly gay rapper/producer/model Milan Christopher.
The plot between Milan and Miles aka Sir Brock is said to be based around the fact that Milan wants his boyfriend, Miles, to proudly embrace his homosexuality and start a family. Miles is also in the music industry, but struggles with his homosexuality and his relationship with Milan due to his Christian faith and his fear of the consequences of being openly gay in the music industry.
The real story here is that Milan feels that he is being ostracized by the rest of his cast mates due to his sexuality. TMZ broke the story on August 11th that he “believes he’s being shunned by cast members because they don’t want to share the small screen with an openly gay rapper.” According to TMZ, Milan has been filming for around 3 weeks but his cast mates Ray J, Soulja Boy, Omarion and Mally Mall are shunning him. TMZ reports that “a number of the rappers are upset with producers for hiring Milan … not because he’s gay but because he has no cred in the rap game. They believe producers hired Milan as a ‘sideshow’ and a ‘circus’ to goose ratings.” TMZ also reports that a number of rappers on the show have already told producers that they wont film scenes with Milan which includes any parties or events where he is in attendance.
Are Milan’s fellow cast mates homophobic? Is this entire story a ploy to get people interested in the new season? Is Milan playing the “gay card”? Sound off in the comments!
Catch Ray J and Princess, Teairra Mari, Omarion and Apryl, Fizz, Miss Nikki Baby, Soulja Boy and Nia Riley, Moniece Slaughter and her new boyfriend (?) LHHNY veteran Rich Dollaz, and Hazel-E this September on VH1!
